Internally Displaced Persons in Pakistan
The Number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) that fled the conflict zones in Dir, Buner and Swat city has crossed the mark of 300,000 in relief camps set up for them in the district.
According to official statistics, total 292,670 members of 48,681 families including women and children have migrated to the district so far.
To facilitate the IDPs, registration points have been set up at Palu Dand, Sani Chowk, Sodeiz, Murghazari, Naway kallay, Kalu Khan and Kand More while food items, including 40kg wheat and 5kg cooking oil were being distributed among affectees at Kanda More, Rang Abad and Dab Takhta centres through ration cards under United Nations World Food Programme.
The residential camps had been set up at Lahor, Elementary College, Shah Mansoor Township and Markazi Board.
Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has appealed for urgent cash aid to help up to two million people who have fled fighting with the Taliban.

Addressing international donors in Islamabad, Mr Gilani warned the mass exodus had "grave repercussions".
The UN says that about 1.5 million people have been displaced since the army's latest offensive began on 2 May, 2009 and two million since last August.
This is our responsibility to help the victims in this bad situation.
